A Brief Introduction to Nakchu Area 

Nakchu, meaning "Black River" in Tibetan, mainly covers the northern part of Tibet with an area of 400'000 km enclosed by three big mountain ranges. The average altitude is above 4500 meters and no human inhabits in some parts while wild animal like donkeys yaks live here. The yearly average temperature is between-0.9¡ãc and 3.3¡ãc with strong sun rays. People living here mostly have pink color on the face. Despite  of  such kind of climate,  people like to travel to here for the beautiful landscape and its mystery.

Mountain Nyantcheng Tanghla

Located in 100 km north of Lhasa and world famous. It is snow capped all year round.  Extending for 600 kilometers, this mountain is the line of demarcation between the Yarlung Zangbo River and the Nujiang River. The 7,162-meter-high main peak stands in Damxung County and is surrounded by more than 30 peaks being more than 6000 meters high, of which four are more than 7000 meters high.

Horse Race Festival In Nakchu

It is the biggest festival in this area held in Nakchu city once a year in August lasting 7 days from 10th to 16th. But the splendid part is on the first three days attracting more and more tourists. During the festival, people there dressed up in variety of colors and drank local wine and put up tents. Matching the horse racing, there is a large scale of commodity exchange. If you decide coming to Tibet once in a lifetime, recommend it to you as it is worth watching.
